MORNING WALK

Early birds get the best deal. Visitors are able to observe the mangrove forest at its best by trekking through the jungle at 7am. One may experience the dewy mist lingering in the dense forest and the pleasant smell of wild flowers blooming in the sun. Trekkers are able to take a sneak peek of hornbills, woodpeckers and squirrels searching for their breakfast. If you are lucky enough, you might see Sambar deer roaming through the jungle or a python draping on a tree branch, still full from last night’s dinner

NIGHT WALK

Visitors are also given the chance to view the nocturnal animals in action too. Amazing fireflies lit up the way for you as you walk into the forest, their glowering light flickers with sudden dimness and brightness. You are able to see the owl fly across the starry sky, searching for her prey. Dry leaves on the ground rustle when a monitor lizard scrambled by, running away in fear from its preying snake. The forest is such a mystery filled with lives and this will not be an experience you would want to miss.

PROBOSCIS MONKEYS

They are the stars of our sanctuary. Proboscis monkeys which are not found anywhere else in the world is currently residing in Labuk Bay. With it s huge pendulous nose and distinctive pot belly, the male proboscis monkey is one of the most peculiar and bizarre animal in the world. It is usually not easy to observe these monkeys from a reasonably close distance. They are by nature very cautious of humans and are easily frightened away. At our sanctuary, we are proud to offer our visitors an excellent view of these monkeys in their natural habitat from an observation platform fronting the feeding area.

BIRD WATCHING

Visitors are able to relax by the observation platform over a cup of coffee while watching the birds. Birds of different species had been spotted living in the sanctuary. For example: Oriental Pied Hornbill (only seen in Borneo Islands and Sumatra), Collared Kingfisher, White Bellied Woodpecker, Purple Heron and lots more. It is indeed one-of-a-kind experience to be able to listen to the sweet harmony of different birds and insects composing a symphony together in the sunny afternoon.

RIVER CRUISE

Nature lovers should definitely go for the river cruise. You are able to get a glimpse of silvered leaf monkeys swinging branch to branch across the jungle, the wild boar family trotting through the wild with their piglets in search of food while enjoying the soft breeze against your cheeks and the sounds of chirping birds and insects. It is indeed the best way to experience the sensation of being in the wilderness of Borneo jungle. That is not all. Our guide will also stop by a fishing village to let you witness the daily lives of Kampung Semawang. It is a small, rural village without the bare essential of water and electricity supply. It is an eye-opener experience to see their fast hands mending their fishing nets and the freshest fish being caught.
