I had a fantastic time at Labuk Bay sanctuary. Daniel the guide was fantastic.
I spent just one night and the room was good, clean and big, with a/c and bathroom. It looked new. Many, many proboscis monkeys and silvered leafs. I got to see a wild orangutan during the 6am bird-watching walk which showed also many beautiful birds. The night walk was just awesome - I'd never seen so many fireflies before. The tree just lit up like a christmas tree in the midst of a dark jungle. Just beautiful.
I would certainly be spending a night or two or three here again. The staff were friendly and the food was really good
Cheers,
Nanda. |

We visited the Labuk Bay proboscis sanctuary in July 2008. It is a place must go and see for proboscis monkeys and maroon leaf monkeys. You could view them during feeding times from the viewing deck. The best feeding time is at 11:30am. It is fed pancakes to the proboscis monkeys where as maroon leaf monkeys are fed with green string beans. If you are fortunate, you may get to see Oriental Pied Hornbills. Must have a 4x4 transportation to get there if you are traveling by road. This place is way better and worthwhile in money-wise than Sepilok and Crocodile Farm.
The "friendly and adorable" otter got stolen is a misfortunate. If not, you could pet and play with her. |

We visited the Labuk Bay proboscis sanctuary in May 2008. It is absolutley fantastic and the proboscis monkey's are amazing, you get to see them so close up (approx 10 feet away). The taxi drivers would not go out to Labuk so we rang Labuk from Sepilok and they actually came in and picked us up and returned us later in the day. Adam who picked us up was amazing - really knowledgable and had a fantastic sense of humour. I highly recommend the Labuk Bay proboscis Sanctuary and found it far superior and better value than Sepilok. Next time I will stay overnight in the accommodation. LOVE IT!!!!!! |

Hello!
Congratulations on your new website! Very informative and well designed! I visited the sanctuary twice in 2005, when I did my placement in Sabah (STB). Very friendly staff, good food and lots of compatriots :-) ('monyet belanda' !
Wishing you all the best!
